Wild Beasts are a 4 piece band from Kendal, now based in Leeds, UK. Their debut single, ‘Brave Bulging Buoyant Claivoyants’ b/w ‘The Old Dog’ was released on Bad Sneakers Records on 20th November 2006. 2nd single ‘Through Dark Night’ b/w ‘Please, Sir’ was released 23rd April as their last single on Bad Sneakers. In February 2007 the band signed to Domino Records. A debut album ‘Limbo, Panto’ was released in the UK on June 16 2008 with strong critical endorsement.

The four boys of Wild Beasts aren’t concerned with being of the modern, or being of the renaissance, being baggy pantsed or being tight pantsed, being in a scene or being in a place. Wild Beasts’ music just is.

They write beautiful, intriguing, slightly offbeat but incredibly catchy pop music.

The Devil's Crayon is such a strange song. I feel like i should be ideologically opposed to everything it is and how it sounds but for some reason i really really like it. The rest of their stuff is pretty average though, seems like their formula is one that works when it does and grates the ears when it doesn't.

They're absolutely totally different to Muse, your comparison is very strained and tired. They're also leagues ahead, while Muse wallow in pastiche, Wild Beasts play where true "indie" should be at this time, totally free of complication and to the heart, both wallowing in and keeping aloof of pretention.

"Devil's Crayon" blew me away, so I checked these guys out. Still getting used to the lead singer's crackling shrills, but as far as musically I love their sound. Really digging "Vigil for a Fuddy Duddy" and "His Grinning Skull".
