i'll definitely check Faith out. Also, does anyone else really love the second acoustic disc that came with the greatest hits package? every song from the first disc re-recorded in studio with a very 'live' feeling. It's the only 'greatest hits' package I've ever seen worth purchasing.

I'm with you EternalExodus / SmwhtDmgd82 - one of the attractions of the cure is the way that their sound has changed over the years. Personally there's not a lot I like after Pornography / Charlotte Sometimes until we get to Disintegration - but that's taste for you! No mention of Faith though? You want dark? You want sombre? You want one of the best albums ever released - that's your man.

SmwhtDmgd82 wrote:
Well said, EternalExodus. I'm hearing you on the sad cure as well. Someone posted a Torrent of a high quality audio rip of Trilogy once about 4 years ago and I was blown away by it. I had actually never heard "Disintegration" before that. I went out and bought the DVD and "Disintegration" and The Cure instantly became one of my favorite bands with Plainsong being one of most-loved songs.

attn people that attempt to divide the cure up by pre- and post-disintegration/pornography/bloodflowers/wish/whatever: please don't. there's a reason that albums don't all come out at the same time, and that's because they're all different--and good in different ways. I like much of 4:13 dream--it's not the masterpiece that disintegration is, but it's quite fun and mostly easy to listen and jam to, freakshow in particular. I hope they DO release that long-rumored "dark" companion album next year--as much as I enjoy the happy cure, I much prefer the sad cure. I'm looking at you, trust.

so I've completely avoided 4:13 Dream so far, as the last one I purchased without hearing first, and was sorely disappointed. Is there a single song which might pique my interest in this new record, or should I just stick with my Disintegration-and-earlier stuff?
