clairalou: if you mean the title of this song, then yes. ð became d in most germanic languages like english (góðan becomes good) and g, silent in icelandic, either became y in english (day) or became pronounced in german (tag). each language just developed so the pronunciation is different but if you know english or german, or both, you can guess a lot of sigur rós' lyrics without knowing a word of icelandic, ie augunn blá = blue eyes.

góðan daginn does indeed mean good day. in my language (norwegian) it's "god dag".

With no doubt this is the best song on the new album! After minute 4:00 it reminds me of Slowdive. Beautiful.

hey! I guess Icelandic is a Germanic language like English and well, of course, German :-) my Icelandic is non-existant though...und mein deutsch ist kaum besser lol! Erm, Gobbledygook in English is like a nonsense language...so you'd say "what are you on about? Why are you speaking gobbledygook" for example. Like "Double Dutch" or "It's all Greek to me" otehr similar sayings... The spelling is slightly different but I am guessing it means the same thing????

clairalou wrote:

Sigur Rós at their absolute best. This is just so beautiful - they seem able to come out with tunes which grab you without much effort. This will be played and played.
