    17 Feb 2008, 15:30 by alicetragedy

    50 top artists.

    1. How did you get into 29?

Elliott Smith; actually because of my Jeff Buckley obsession. My friend sent me a copy of a free cd from the magazine Les Inrockuptibles because it had a live version of Grace on it. the others songs included PlayKeep It a Secret (Jay-Jay Johanson), PlayIn The Sun (Joseph Arthur), PlayGoodnight Moon (Shivaree), 10x2 (Sophie Moleta), and Playhappiness (the gondola man) (Elliott Smith). I loved it straight away and was partly deceived by a lot of his other tracks. this was back in 1999. or maybe 2000.

    2. What was the first song you ever heard by 22?

John Frusciante; the first song on the first album I ever bought by him (To Record Only Water For Ten Days). I bought it because I read a very good review when it came out but I'd never heard a single song by him before. the song to open the album is PlayGoing Inside and it's amazing.

    3. What’s your favorite lyric by 33?

The Shins; I don't know most of their lyrics (they are too crazy!) but I really like the line I'm looking in on the good life I might be doomed never to find from PlayNew Slang.

    4. What is your favorite album by 49?

Mineral; EndSerenading. even though my favorite track by them is not on that record..

    5. How many albums by 13 do you own?

    Audrey; One, Visible Forms (LP).

    6. What is your favorite song by 50?

Ryan Adams; it changes now and then, but right now it's PlaySylvia Plath.

    7. Is there a song by 39 that makes you sad?

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly; the whole overall mood of their songs is not so happy, but War Of The Worlds is kind of heartbreaking, because of the way in which he sings..

    8. What is your favorite album by 15?

Belle Epoque; A la dérive of course :)

    9. What is your favorite song by 5?

The Smashing Pumpkins; that's a tough one. Maybe PlayThirty-Three or PlayStand Inside Your Love, because of the memories I associate to both songs..

    10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy?

Regina Spektor; a lot of her songs make me happy! but maybe That Time and Fidelity.

    11. What is your favorite album by 40?

The Postal Service; they only released Give Up, and I love it.

    12. What is your favorite song by 10?

SoKo; I really like I Will Never Love You More, and of course I'll Kill Her..

    13. What is a good memory you have involving 30?

The Cure; I guess maybe going to their concert 8 years ago. Asking everyone if they wanted to come with me, but no one I knew did. I had just moved to a new city and a new country, so the day before the concert I went to check out the venue. I listened to Bloodflowers endlessly the weeks before that and the concert was one of the best I ever went to. I felt tiny and was surrounded by so many 25 and 30-year-olds dressed in black lace and fishnets, it was surreal.

    14. What is your favorite song by 38?

    Interpol; C'mere and The New.

    15. Is there a song by 19 that makes you happy?

    Nada Surf; PlayBlankest Year.

    16. How many times have you seen 25 live?

    Beulah; never :(

    17. What is the first song you ever heard by 23?

Ashlee Simpson; oi... PlayPieces of Me, I think.

    18. What is your favorite album by 11?

Maximilian Hecker; maybe Rose. but that's because I don't own Infinite Love Songs and know almost no songs off that album, it's meant to be really good.

    19. Who is a favorite member of 1?

Bright Eyes; haha. stupid question. I used to have a giganticosaurus crush on Conor Oberst.. back when he was still an unhappy alcoholic with suicidal tendencies.

    20. Have you ever seen 14 live?

The National; no. I actually was pretty close to going to Oslo to see them this winter, but the show turned out to be sold out, and I was low on cash so I didn't want to travel all the way and end up not getting a ticket at the door (or a really overpriced one). it sucked.

    21. What is a good memory involving 27?

Something Corporate; hm, I have no 'good' memories, only sad ones. Actually, PlayStraw Dog reminds me of the winter my grandma died. we drove through little northern Italy villages on an incredibly sunny sunday morning, it was around the time that the whole thing with Iraq started so there were rainbow 'PACE' flags hanging on all facades, and I was listening to that song on repeat and feeling like something was totally off, somehow. a few hours later, right after we passed the border, we got the message that my grandmother had died; we U-turned and drove to Rome and all I could think of was that I didn't have any black clothes for the funeral.

    22. What is your favorite song by 16?

Radiohead; so many. PlayTrue Love Waits and PlayThinking About You..

    23. What is the first song you ever heard by 47?

Everton; 10pm maybe? or comfort noise.

    24. What is your favorite album by 18?

    Brand New; Deja Entendu.

    25. What is your favorite song by 21?

Charlotte Martin; PlayWild Horses and PlayEvery Time It Rains.

    26. What is the first song you ever heard by 26?

    Jack's Mannequin; The Mixed Tape

    27. What is your favorite album by 3?

Verdena; I like all of them.

    28. What is your favorite song by 2?

Death Cab For Cutie; fuck, this is getting difficult. well at the moment I like a lot PlayWe Looked Like Giants. It's gorgeous.

    29. What was the first song you ever heard by 32?

    Ben Folds; PlayNot the Same.

    30. What is your favorite song by 8?

    Maria Taylor; PlayLeap Year.

    31. How many times have you seen 17 live?

Son, Ambulance; also never. I don't even know if he really plays anymore.

    32. Is there a song by 44 that makes you happy?

    Pedro the Lion; not really.

    33. What is your favorite album by 12?

Something Less Than Perfect; well, they only have one demo and it wasn't even released, so... that's obviously my favorite:)

    34. What is the worst song by 45?

Emiliana Torrini; um, I like Love In The Time Of Science the best, so nothing off that... Maybe a song from Crouçie D'où Là, I didn't like that album too much. but I can't pick a worst song, though.

    35. What was the first song you ever heard by 34?

The Decemberists; Here I Dreamt I Was an Architect.

    36. What is your favorite album by 48?

Stars; it used to be Heart, but I think In Our Bedroom After the War might win soon:)

    37. How many times have you seen 42 live?

    Laura Veirs; zero!

    38. What is your favorite song by 36?

Saez; PlayJours Étranges or PlayJeune et con.

    39. What was the first song you ever heard by 28?

Björk; I really don't remember but it has to be something off Debut.

    40. What is your favorite album by 7?

    Kristofer Åström; Rainaway Town.

    41. Is there a song by 31 that makes you happy?

Bloc Party; I Still Remember. It's beautifully catchy and even though I first heard it in winter, it was already making me look forward to a great summer..

    42. What is your favorite album by 41?

Across the Delta; they only have one album, Dancing To Architecture. It's really good, with intricate melodies. and of course I have a lot of memories that connect me to this album..

    43. What is your favorite song by 24?

Rocky Votolato; PlaySuicide Medicine. It's so intense.

    44. What is a good memory you have involving 46?

Ben Kweller; a boy introduced me to him first. When I listen to his songs, it mostly reminds me of him and of how complicated the relationship between us was (and still is). I like to think that maybe somewhere, listening to Ben Kweller makes him think of me too.

    45. What is your favorite song by 35?

Shout Out Louds; maybe PlayImpossible, but there's so many others.. Ana and I like to listen to the Shout Out Louds full volume whenever we can, it's a great pre-party song.

    46. Is there a song by 9 that makes you happy?

Basia Bulat; not so much. Most of her songs make me feel a little quiet and folky.

    47. What is your favorite album by 4?

Jeff Buckley; Grace, of course. It's probably one of the most beautiful and perfect albums of all time.

    48. Who is a favorite member of 37?

Azure Ray; well, I like both..

    49. What is the first song you ever heard by 43?

    Imogen Heap; PlayGoodnight and Go.

    50. How many albums do you own by 20?
    Christie Front Drive; none.

  • A moment of your time - either way is fine.

    1 Feb 2008, 21:18 by You_know_me

It came and it went. i actually went home early. I felt I had had enough, that I would rather be with you. I dont regret it for a second, Sam is good - you are better. I love you, I think Sam would aprove.

As far as the concert went I was not blown away but then again you so seldom are when you have high expectations. It was good and I wouldnt mind doing it again - here´s hoping...

    And with that...

    M. Craft has released one album. I held of buying it becouse I am a cheap bastard (apparently). You need to hear it, no really... you do.

Moto Boy has got soul. Not in any conventional sense of the word, in fact he is probably going to hell by some peoples standards. But still - soul...

Kristofer Åström has released a ton of albums and he seem to be very good at it, oh and the music is awesome...

Jag är nog lite efter, men jag måste ändå gå igenom musikåret 2007...

x Salem Al Fakir - This Is Who I Am
x Maia Hirasawa - Though, Im Just Me
    x Patti Smith - Twelve
x Steve Earle - Washington Square Serinade
x Sahara Hotnights - What If Leaving Is A Loving Thing
x The Shins - Wincing The Night Away

    1 Bright Eyes - Cassadega
2 Christian Kjellvander - I Saw Her From Here/I Saw Here From Here
    3 Lars Winnerbäck - Daugava
4 Ryan Adams - Easy Tiger
5 Dropkick Murphys - The Meanest Of Times

Sen måste jag även nämna dessa som grymma skivor 2007
    Bruce Springsteen - Magic
    Patti Smith - Twelve
Sahara Hotnights - What If Leaving Was A Loving Thing
    Levon Helm - Dirt Farmer
    Säkert! - Säkert!

Sämsta skivan 2007: Sonata Arctica - Unia

Ska också nämna att Rush släppte Snakes & Arrows 2007 =)

2008 stora händelse blir Iron Maiden på Stockholm Stadion!!!

  • Best CD:s from 2007 are....

    29 Dec 2007, 12:52 by popphenrik

(and yes, don´t worry, I have bought them all)

Swedish (and Finnish) music dominated 2007.

    1. Cats on Fire - The Province Complains

The best POP-album since The Boy With the Arab Strap in 1998. Amazing achievement from the swedish-speaking boys in my neighboring country Finland.

    2. Loney, Dear - Loney, Noir

This album has been in my iTunes from day one this year and I am not tired of it yet.

    3. Lucky Soul - The Great Unwanted

How I wish I was 20 years old and danced to these songs over and over again at the local indie-club. Even better than last years brilliant The Pipettes album.

    4. Sally Shapiro - Disco Romance, US Version

This incredible album became even better with some new songs for the US edition. Amongst them, one of the songs of the year - Jackie Jackie (Spend the Winter with Me)

    5. Anna Järvinen - Jag fick feeling

She used to be in the band Granada, but with this swedish sung album she surprised us all. Great pop with 70:s flavor. The second album in my top five made by persons with Finnish roots.

    6. Gorefest - Rise to Ruin

This brutal death metal album is the best metal album this year. It is groovy, with an amazing voice and, best of all, fantastic songs. 2007 has been a bad year for black metal and a very good year for death metal.

    7. Ronderlin - The Great Investigation

How many great songwriters/bands can one country have? Ronderlin is probably one of the most underrated indiepop bands from Sweden. Mix Labrador-style pop with The Lightning Seeds and Pet Shop Boys and you get - Ronderlin.

    8. Billie the Vision & The Dancers - Where The Ocean Meets My Hand

Dress up in womens clothing. Sing about a crazy homeless person in really bad English!! Do whatever as long as you produce pop albums as good as this one.

    9. Dark Tranquillity - Fiction

WOW. How can you make a hard death metal album this catchy. Their friends In Flames is far behind DT at the moment. Top production as well. Hurry back into the studio.

    10. Alcest - Souvenirs Dun Autre Monde

The perfect mix between black metal, post rock and shoegaze we all been waiting for. You have this dreamy song and then the black metal drumming starts in the background together with those Burzum like guitarwalls. Amazing.

    11. Da'ville - On My Mind

This years best reggae album in a lovers rock style.

    12. Gui Boratto - Chromophobia

And this is the best electronic album.

    13. Jah Mason - Life Is Just A Journey
    14. Chezidek - Inna Di Road

Two great reggae albums from two of the most consistent roots singers.

    15. Marching Dynamics - Nailsleeper

Forget Burial, he is overrated. Listen to this instead. This dubstep/industrial/electronic album is marvelous.

    16. Mark Olson - Salvation Blues

The best album Mark Olson has been involved in since Tomorrow the Green Grass.

    17. Trembling Blue Stars - Last Holy Writer

Another pop-gem from the master of melancholy.

    18. Anaal Nathrakh - Hell Is Empty And All The Devils Are Here

Black/grind metal album with intensity like no-one else.

    19. Motor - Unhuman

    Hard and acid-heavy electronic album.

    20. Anthony B - Higher Meditation

One of his best albums yet.

    21. Rosie Thomas - These Friends of Mine
    22. Chuck Fender - Eternal Flame
    23. Laura Veirs - Saltbreakers
    24. Chezidek - Firm Up Yourself
    25. Pan Sonic - Katodivaihe
    26. Kristofer Åström - Rainaway Town
    27. Field - From Here We Go Sublime
    28. Immolation - Shadows in the Light
    29. Deer Tick - War Elephant
    30. Pole - Steingarten
    31. Deadbeat - Journyman´s Annual
    32. Machine Head - The Blackening
    33. Behemoth - The Apostasy
    34. Mary Onettes - Same
    35. Band of Horses - Cease to Begin
    36. Ashbury Heights - Three Chears for the Newlydeads
    37. Voxtrot - Same
    38. Kult - Winds of War
    39. Primordial - To the Nameless Dead
    40. Efdemin - Same
    41. Rotting Christ - Theogonia
    42. Despised Icon - The Ills of Modern Man
    43. Severe Torture - Sworn Vengeance
    44. Defeated Sanity - Psalms of the Moribund
    45. Desolation Triumphalis - Forever Bound
    46. Dying Fetus - War of Attrition
    47. Vital Remains - Icons of Evil
    48. The Tough Alliance - A New Chance
    49. Gravenhurst - Western Lands
    50. Sambassadeur - Migration
