i used to think they seemed a bit mainstream, with the more death vocals being abnormal in the folk scene. however they chrigel's voice grows on you fast and the instrumental aspect of the band is just to good to pass up. also listen to inis mona a few times and you'll be hooked. catchy yet innovative, exquisite band and something the folk metal scene needed.

sometimes too much melodic death metal. but great!

omfg, how can anyone say they are Metalcore? That's bullshit, they are Death and Black Metal influence folk metal, a bit similar to Ensiferum! Slania is a fucking great album, I don't like their first albums though. They weren't bad, just boring imo. But anyway, they are a fucking awesome live band. They played at the Pagenfest earlier this year (with Ensiferum, Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow and Tyr) and though they played first, they really kicked ass! They played their best song (Inis Mona) first and still managed to keep the level of their show up high. Great band to see live, I'm gonna see them again in December at the Heidenfest... :)

Omg I'm sorry but Slania is the SHIT! fuck, these guys should be at the forefront of the folk metal scene. Shit i reon folk metal could get as big as thrash did in the 80's, though obviously the main scene will be over here in europe and yeh it'll be rounf finland and sweden but still. the chance to grow up with a new genre =D

are they christian or religious in any way? sounded to me like that a little in the song tarvos "A drawn struggle through innominate days As ultimately the sword of Jesus Pierced the bulls heart" the "win" of jesus is weird, thats why. please tell me
