Bob Marley & the Wailers was a reggae band created in 1973 by Bob Marley, after Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer left the precursor band, The Wailers.
Bob Marley & The Wailers formed in Kingston (Jamaica) and consisted of Bob Marley himself as guitarist, song writer and lead singer, Wailers Band as the backing band and the I Threes as backup vocalists.
The band included the brothers Carlton and Aston “family Man” Barrett on drums and bass respectively, Junior Marvin and Al Anderson on lead guitar, Tyrone Downie and Earl “Wya” Lindo on keyboards, and Alvin “Seeco” Patterson on percussion. The I Threes, consisted of Bob Marley’s wife Rita Marley, Judy Mowatt and Marcia Griffiths.
Often, usually for marketing purposes, Bob Marley, The Wailers, and Bob Marley & the Wailers are used indiscriminately to refer to recordings actually made by separate entities.

@op8ted, maybe others can weigh in here but remember Wikipedia is user-contributed just like here and allows anonymous contributions so I wouldn't worry too much about matching w/them. I think your source (a documentary w/Bob Marley speaking directly on the issue) sounds more reliable. If you roll it back just note where you specifically got it from.

To those who might want ot know why I changed the Wiki, then rolled it back...if anyone cares...it was because I went by what I saw in documentaries, where Bob Marley was saying how even on "To Catch A Fire" album, with Peter and Bunny, the album was still "Bob marley and The Wailers"....so that is what i wnet by...but i looked at Wikipedia, and it was defined different. So I might be wrong...I still go in my heart by what Bob said...but I dont want to change the wiki, if it disagrees with Wikipedia :\... I & I Apologize!
