Group avatars

  • Group avatars

Just when was "Fuck You Christ"'s old avatar offensive? Go look around the internet for that same photo...if you notice, it's just an actor posing for it.

Cripes...what's next, asking people with Mohammed Bomb Turban avatars to change it? If the old group avatar was offensive, I find religious symbols generally offensive myself and would demand change if I had my way :/

It's NOT harming anyone except the really uptight Christians/Catholic users who can't take a joke.

totally agree. the only thing more pathetic than a troll is a troll wannabe.
mai daiz az a unsub, dey iz numbrd.
n i not knoe dat many numbrz
    :'(
  • Would be nice if Last.fm Staff could give us an explanation for that. The group avatar is familiar to them since more than half a year. A German mod worked on my request to appoint another user second leader for this group and the now removed ava pic already existed then. He commented on it saying smth like "nice avatar" (which is obviously ironic) but he didn't say it is against Last.fm rules.

I wonder if Last.fm changed the rules in the past six months, can't remember that that happened...

And just to make it clear. It's a work of art; not a crime!

Saf was referring to a replacement picture for a previously removed group avatar.

Incredible amounts of idiocy here, the fact you had to point that out to them is incredible.

I find people who hate on me hilarious though, like BAWWW SAF IS RUINING MY INTERNET EXPERIENCE I fucking OWN the internet.

lol just fanning flames here, watch...
  • So if Last.fm Staff isn't interested in give us a reply does that mean I can upload the picture again?

I don't think it takes you 24 hours to think about what answer to give me and some of you have posted on different threads meanwhile so you oviously have noticed our complaint
  • Hey Tsatthoggua,

The image in question has been removed due to user complaints. We have agreed that it was excessively offensive and inappropriate for use as a Last.fm group picture. I will appreciate it if you respect our decision and not upload it again.

    Thanks.
  • How many user complaints? 10? 20? 50? More?

What about people using Nazi symbolism, are you going to allow groups or users with pro-Nazi images on or leave them for some double-standard?

I mean for those openly proclaming they hate Jews/blacks/Asian/etc.

I hope this does not come to favoritism by permitting Nazi or other hate symbolism and not allowing something as our old avatar to not be permitted. I would be very disappointed to see if people with stuff like that to remain if we were forced to remove our old avatar.

If people had user complaints, why couldn't they just ignore it like anyone could have done without getting all BAAAAWWWWy about it.
  • Of course I will not upload it again as long as I don't get green light but I wonder what's so bad about a woman covered with ketchup and having a piece of wood in her mouth:

Is it worse than having a picture of a real murder as avatar?

    What about this one:

This is a picture of a real murder, used as an album cover and available on last.fm. There are even buy links for that one and besides every little child could get this album if it knows where (atm I know three sources where I could buy it legally in Germany).

So a picture of a dead person with opened skull, brain besides his body and a bloody knife and shotgun besides him isn't worse than a ketchup covered woman with wood in her mouth? Please explain that to me.

And besides, total agreement with argonianslave: Making fun of 20 million systematically killed people isn't worse than a fotograph of a model representing the fall of a religion. Do you think different?
  • real suicide*

Wait. Are you seriously asking us to "go look around the internet" for some avatar? It's pretty big these days, you know.

No, but seriously: you should have linked to it, since I personally had no idea what image it was. Doesn't matter now though, since Tsatt did instead.

These rules are subjective. Of course rules should never be subjective, but it's really impossible to avoid in cases like this. And sometimes we're just busy, or decide to not do anything about something for whatever reason. We're human, it happens.

With a thread title like this, I don't think it's that difficult to believe that we simply missed it. If it's something that you really want to discuss, sending a PM never hurts.

BAAAAWWWWWW? Ok, serious again: there's a difference. Symbols are symbols, pictures are pictures. If your avatar had been some crappy MS Paint job, I don't think anyone would have minded it (at least we wouldn't had done anything about it even if they did). That avatar though, despite being fake, looks like it could be real. But maybe I'm biased, since I know there are people who are very offended by symbols as well (although I don't believe you're one of them, I think you're just trying to make a point. Which you are, don't worry) and we're constantly contacted by those, being asked to remove nazi symbols from all corners of the site. And yeah, I can understand them to an extent, but we have very strict rules about that (IE don't do anything about them unless people are actively being harassed, basically).

And Tsatthoggua's last post: yeah, that's difficult. But as I said earlier, that fake avatar can(in that low resolution anyway) look just as real as the real album cover. So I'm not sure how much it really matters for someone looking at it. I think we've removed avatars containing gory scenes from movies before. I'm not sure though, and as I said, it's difficult.
  • Despite the user complaints, has the avatar actually harrassed anyone?

    On what BAWWWWW is: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=BAWWWW

It's basically whining, just like Butthurt can be, if you didn't know.

It's just people whining over a group's avatar at most by those most sensitive to anti-christian ramblings if you ask me.

As for nazi avatars, I frankly do not care about it if it's the ancient symbol that predates when nazism twisted it around for their own use.

OT-PS: The Metal Observer group has some nice charts btw.
  • No, I know what BAAWWW is, I was just saying it seemed to me like you were BAAWWWWing a bit. I added a question mark to make it not seem as harsh, since I'm a mod and has to be responsible and not feed the flaming and what not.

I can't say much else about this though, since I didn't deal with it. Although I did deal with a guy who had that same picture as his avatar, but that's pretty irrelevant. I personally don't think it has to do with the cross or symbology itself though, rather the blood and gore. Maybe that's not what they complained about, but I'm fairly certain that's why it was removed.

And yeah, thanks. :D We're pretty awesome. Quiet, but awesome.
  • Understandable, I wasn't BAWWWing, I was making the impression of the complainers that got them to remove Fuck You Christ's old avatar...hence they whined to get it removed because it made them butthurt.

PS: You might be interested in some of the groups myself or Tsa are in.
